Happy 30th Birthday Kristen!!!

Adam and I would like to wish our good friend Kristen Bixler a very Happy 30th Birthday!!

Kristen and I have become close friends over the past few years, rarely a day goes by that we don't talk via email, text or phone. I feel very blessed to have Kristen in my life and I look forward to many more years of friendship.

Kristen was a huge help to me over the past year during my pregnancy, fortunately for me she had just had Jackson and was able to give me some insight and tips on the whole pregnancy and delivery. I turned to Kristen a lot since I didn't have my mom to ask some of those embarrassing questions too, she was always honest and put me at ease. Jackson and Maddy are a year and two days apart, this is great for me because Kristen will always be a step ahead in the world of parenting and someone I can turn too with questions.

Kristen, Justin, Adam and I always have a great time together whether it be at a concert, tailgating before a Colts game or just getting together for a little visit. I am so happy that they have recently made it back to Fishers so we are closer!!

It will be fun to watch Jackson and Madelyn grow up together and become friends, though we will have to keep an eye on them when they become teenagers. Kristen and I have joked that maybe one day Jackson and Maddy will get married and we can plan a wedding together, Justin was quick to point out that they would only have to pay for the rehearsal. Adam didn't think it was too funny!!!!

Kristen,

I hope you have a great birthday and that all your wishes come true. Thank you for being such a great friend and support. I look forward to celebrating many more milestones together!!

Love,
Sara

First day!

Today was my first day back to work from maternity leave and Maddy had her first daycare experience. Adam and I dropped her off this morning about 7:15am and that was really tough. I didn't even make it out of the daycare before I was in tears and then pretty much had to redo my make-up before going into work.

Once I got to work things were a little easier. I had a lot to get caught up on and it kept my mind occupied. I called to check on her twice and then had to call Adam and give report. Of course she was fine but it gave me peace of mind to call and check. Adam had been back to work for a while but today was diffrent for him too, he knew Maddy wasn't at home with me.

On July 14th Maddy rolled over for the first time here at the house with Adam, I was upstairs when it happened and missed it. We have been giving her lots of tummy time to see if she would do it again but we hadn't had any luck. So of course she picks today at daycare to do it again...missed it again. I am determined to see it tonight, as I sit here writing this post Adam just informed me that she did it again. So I am going to wrap things up and go watch my baby girl roll over!!!

Hope you all enjoy Maddy's first art project from daycare. I've never seen anything better and it's posted proudly on the fridge!!

Bloomington Slumber Party

Earlier this week Maddy and I went to Bloomington to spend a little time with my family before I go back to work. We had a girls slumber party at Aunt Allie's house, the sad part was that my 22 year old sister went to bed before Maddy and I.

We had a great dinner at my dad and MaryAnn's house, as usual there was way too much food. Dad of course had pie for dessert but Allie and I had our hearts set on Dairy Queen that night. We stopped by DQ and that made me feel really old, the parking lot and picnic tables were filled with high school kids. I can remember those days like they were yesterday, it's hard to believe it's been 10 years. The blizzards were still great though! I am sure Maddy will get to experience both DQ and the Chocolate Moose with Grampy Williams one day.

It was great to spend the day in Bloomington on a beautiful summer day. It still feels like home and probably always will, I look forward to showing Maddy where I grew up as she gets older. Hopefully she will love it just as much as I do!!

Extra Hugs and Kisses

Madelyn had her 2 month check-up today with Dr. Rob, Adam and I were both dreading it because she was going to get 2 shots. I knew it would be hard but I didn't realize there would be tears shed by Maddy AND Mommy, needless to say she has gotten lots of extra hugs and kisses tonight.

Maddy is a growing girl and when the nurse weighed her today she is a whopping 12 pounds 10 ounces. I was pretty shocked because that was a gain of 1 pound 8 ounces since her last visit. She is currently in the 89 percentile for height of girls her age, Adam and I told her to enjoy it now because it's not likely to stay that way. Who knows she may surprise us!!

My next Mommy obstacle will be sending Madelyn to daycare for the first time on the 20th, I'm not looking forward to that and my co-workers probably aren't looking forward to me crying all day. Sorry in advance:(

Summer Sandal Tradition Begins!

Before Madelyn was born my sister came to me and said she wanted there to be something special she and Maddy would do together every year. I of course agreed and told her to think about it and let me know what she came up with. Well, if you know Allie at all you would know that it would have to involve shopping, now I consider myself a fan of shopping but I don't know anyone that loves it more then my sister. She came up with the idea of taking Maddy to buy a new pair of sandals at the start of every summer. I thought it was a great idea and this past weekend the tradition began, Maddy now has her first pair of sandals from Aunt Allie!!

I look forward to many years of seeing what Madelyn comes home with after their shopping trips and I know it won't take long before Maddy is loving this tradition. I also look forward to the look on my sister's face when Maddy turns 16 and decides she wants a $200.00 pair of sandals!! Heehee...sorry Allie but you started it!!

Lions, Tigers and Bears...OH MY!

Maddy and I were invited to the zoo yesterday with my aunt Laurie and my little cousin Clark, we knew it would be a hot day but we decided to brave it. It was hot but not as bad as I anticipated, we were smart and got there early and saved all the indoor exhibits for the afternoon when it got steamy.

Clark was a lot of fun to watch and listen to as he saw the animals for the first time, he is two and was so animated. He particularly liked the Dolphin show, penguins and giraffes. Maddy of course had no clue she was at the zoo but she did take interest in the Ocean (aquarium) exhibit. The bright colors and the fish moving around captured her attention for a few minutes.

Adam and I look forward to taking her back next summer when she will be able to enjoy it a little more...and hopefully when it's not 90 degrees outside!!

One lucky girl!!

We celebrated Adam's first Father's Day yesterday! Sunday morning I made breakfast for Adam and his dad and they both opened their gifts. We then went over to Margaux and Dirk's house for a cook-out to celebrate "the dad's" a little more. Adam got to do a little fishing and of course watched the U.S. Open, it was a nice relaxing day!!

Maddy is one very lucky girl to have Adam as her dad, he is very attentive to her. I wish everyone could here the conversations he has with her and the way her eyes find him when he starts talking. You can tell she really loves her daddy!!

We hope all the dad's had a great day yesterday and I look forward to celebrating with mine this coming weekend!!
