Great News!!!!!

I just got my test results back from the doctor and it's good news, I do not have Gestational Diabetes!!!!! I am so relieved and feel a huge weight off my shoulders. The nurse said my results came back completely normal and there was nothing to be concerned about at this point.

Thanks for all the emails and prayers over the past few days!

Sara

Another baby on the way!!!!!

Congratulations JT & Kellie Morgan!!!!!! Adam and I wish you all the best over the next few months as you embark on your new adventure. We couldn't be happier for you both and know you will be great parents!!

Hiccups!!!

I was laying in bed last night trying to fall asleep and I could feel this continued thumping right in the middle of my stomach. It almost felt like a heartbeat, it continued for a good 15 minutes and it finally occurred to me that Maddy might have the hiccups. I did a little research on-line this morning to confirm my suspicions and sure enough it was the hiccups. She has already had them again twice this morning, must have been something I ate yesterday.

The good news is that all the research on hiccups show that it's a sign of a healthy baby. It means that she is swallowing and using her diaphragm which will prepare her for her entry into the world. I can't wait to HEAR those hiccups soon instead of feeling them!!!

3 1/2 Hours...now we wait

I went to the lab this morning as soon as they opened at 7:30am for the second step gestational diabetes test. After having my blood drawn and drinking that nasty glucola drink (and more of it this time) I had my blood drawn every hour for 3 hours after drinking it. I took a book that I have been wanting to read before the baby arrives and was able to put a dent in it. I have sore arms but other then that it was tolerable. Now we wait a few days for the results, I will post as soon as we hear.

I didn't pass

I had the first step Gestational Diabetes test on Friday and got the results back yesterday. I failed. So now I have to sit through the 3 hour test on Monday. I am not looking forward to it, I can't eat or drink anything after midnight the night before or during the 3+ hours of the test. I had a pretty strong feeling that I wouldn't pass the first step, now I just pray I pass the second. They also informed me that I am anemic, I guess none of this should surprise me since my mom had the exact same problems during pregnancy.

Everyone say a little prayer on Monday that I pass the 3 hour test, I really don't want to have to deal with gestational diabetes. Plus all I can think about is the negative affects it could have on Maddy.

28 Week Appointment

We had our 28 week appointment this morning, I am officially in my 3rd trimester. Today I had my gestational diabetes test, I had to drink this sugary liquid and then wait an hour before they could draw my blood. The hour wait was a little rough because I could barely hold my head up, the sugar made me so tired. I asked the nurse if this was normal and she said it depends on how quickly your body regulates the sugar. I felt like I had just eaten Thanksgiving dinner and needed a nap. We should know the test results on Monday or Tuesday.

While drawing my blood the nurse discovered that she had used the wrong tubes for two of the blood draws. Lucky me I had to get poked 2 more times before the draw was complete and 6 tubes later. Then in the same arm I got the Rhogam injection due to my negative blood type. Needless to point out, my left arm is a tad sore today. I just keep telling myself that this is nothing compared to what delivery day will be like.

Adam and I begin our childbirth preparation classes on March 17th, we will go once a week for 4 weeks at the hospital. I have heard mixed reviews of these classes, however if you know me at all then you know I will always be as prepared as I can possibly be. I am sure we will have updates after each class.

I can't believe my due date is just 12 weeks away!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Adam!!!!!

Happy 29th Birthday!!! We celebrated Adam's birthday on Sunday with all our family, I made 2 big pots of chili and we had cake and ice cream. It was a good day and nice to visit with everyone. I think the hit gift was a remote control cooler that Adam's Grandma (yes I said grandma) bought him. I am sure it will come in handy at the Colt's tailgates when we are either too hot or too cold to get up out of our chairs. I have to admit the highlight was later that afternoon when we turned it on and teased Jada with it. She wasn't quite sure what to think but it was pretty entertaining for us.

I hope you had a great birthday honey and just remember less then one year to the BIG 30th!!

It's Finished!!!

The nursery is finished!!! Now we just wait for Madelyn to arrive to make it complete. I feel really proud and can't wait to bring her home and show her, we hope she likes it. It feels extra special to know how much time Adam and I put into the room, just a small glimpse of how special we already think she is.

We love you Maddy, and I can't wait to spend time feeding and reading to you in that rocking chair.

Love,
Your Mommy

Let The Photo Shoots Begin!!

Adam and I met a great photographer this past week and are very excited to use them over the next year (and beyond) to capture the changes that will occur for Madelyn. We were able to purchase a package that will give us 6 private studio sessions over the next year. Pregnancy, newborn, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and 12 month sessions will all be captured. We will have many great pictures to look back on of the first year of Maddy's life. The grandparents are even invited to the 9 month session to get in on a few photos. In addition at the end of the first year we will be able to choose our 4 favorites and they will frame them and have her name monogrammed at the bottom.

The photographers are a husband and wife team who have little kids of their own and understand the importance of capturing as much as you can while they are little. They even have a special "mommy and me" room at the studio in case we need a quick nap or feeding.

Check out their website at www.capturedimagephotography.com, they are located in Carmel.

Nursery Update

Here are a few pictures of the recent nursery progress. I made the window valance and was able to cover a lamp shade in the same fabric to match. We bought the letters to spell out "dream", I painted them and we hung them together. I was searching for the right word and felt dream was a good choice because we of course want Madelyn to have "sweet dreams" but we also pray she will have big dreams for herself one day.

My mom was always so creative and could make practically anything, just ask Allie...we had to wear a few of those creations. I felt like my mom was right there with me while I was trying to be as creative as she. I think she would be proud!!!

I will continue to update as it all comes together in the next few weeks.
