Congratulations!!!!

Adam and I would like to take a minute and say congratulations to Dustin and Roslynn Dixon. They will be expecting their first bundle of joy shortly after us in August. The holidays with the McCord's will be quite interesting next year with a 4 month old, seven month old, 2 1/2 year old and an almost 4 year old. We are ever expanding!!!!! That's if Roslynn is only having one...wink, wink. We are very excited to have lots of little ones running around.

Roslynn- I hope you are feeling better with each day!!!!!

Expecting Mother's!!!!!!!!!

I have seen these signs in the past and always thought how convenient it will be when I am pregnant to park in those spots. Then once I was pregnant I couldn't bring myself to actually park in them, I felt like I wasn't "pregnant enough". So last night I was going to make a big pot of chili for the Colts game when I realized I was missing a few key ingredients, so I jumped in the car and headed to Marsh. I decided since it was cold and I was only picking up a few things I would park in the "Expecting Mothers" parking spot. Now I am addicted!!!! I believe I will continue to seek out stores that have these special parking spots (if you know of any please let me know :), it was so convenient and I can only imagine how nice it will be once the baby is here. Now if I can just get every store I visit on board with these signs that would be great!!!!
One great perk of being pregnant!!!

The Crib is Up!!!!

Adam and I ordered the baby crib last week and we were able to get it put up last night. I have heard many horror stories on how hard they can be to put together, I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive. Much to my surprise Adam had the crib up and complete in an hour!! Much because of my excellent direction reading of course!!!! Hee Hee!!

Here are a few pictures!! I am sure there will be many more nursery photos to follow over the next few months.

Congrats to Jason and Jenny!!!

Our friends Jason and Jenny Power welcomed their first baby boy today. His name is Drew Michael Power and he arrived at 2:00am this morning after 38 long hours of labor. Drew weighed 8lbs. 12oz. and was 21 1/4 inches long. He was a big boy, seems to be the trend of most my girlfriends this year. (I am selfishly hoping for smaller :)

Jenny was put on bed rest last week and was afraid it would be a long road to her due date on the 26th of this month. We are happy for her and Jason that they didn't have to wait that long to meet their little guy.

Congratulations Jason and Jenny, and to Drew too...for having great parents!! We can't wait to meet the little guy!

Ugh...Maternity Pants

Well it's official, as of today I can no longer fit in any of my normal pants. I had a few pair of my work pants that I have still been able to wear the past few weeks. Today was my breaking point. I gave in and went and bought 2 more pair of maternity pants today. I hate buying them but at this point they are a necessity, I can no longer finagle my old pants to fit with safety pins and hair ties. Adam keeps telling me they are an investment because I will wear them again, I guess that's one way to look at it.

I have to admit they are much more comfortable and I am sure the baby appreciates it too!!!

4th OB Appointment!

We had our fourth appointment on Wednesday and everything went well. We heard the heartbeat again and it continues to get stronger, this time it was 144 beats per minute. The heartbeat will slow the farther along the baby is. I love hearing it and could listen to it for hours!!

We did find out that I have a very rare blood type and will require a few shots throughout my pregnancy. It isn't anything major but they like to do the shots as a precaution. I have O-negative blood type, only 15% of the population has this so the chances of the baby being positive blood type is where the concern comes in. We are unsure of Adam's blood type but more then likely he is positive which would give our baby a 50% chance of being positive. I guess I had to have a little excitement with the pregnancy since I lucked out of being sick the whole first trimester. Sorry to my girlfriends who weren't so lucky :(

New Year's Eve is the big day....the day we will find out if we are having a boy or girl. I was pretty bummed that it wouldn't be before Christmas. The doctor said the longer we can wait the more they will be able to check on the ultrasound. Apparently the doctors aren't too worried about the sex of the baby, they want to see the heart and brain. The nerve!!!!! I was all set to tell the receptionist we couldn't wait that long because we would be "out of town" for the holidays (a little white lie never hurt anyone) but Adam of course convinced me otherwise. So the rest of you will have to wait in suspense with us!!!!!

Thanksgiving!!!

Adam and I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! We were able to celebrate with both sides of my family this year and I am very thankful to have all the family I do. Lots of kids running around and the laughter makes it exciting. We are looking forward to adding our own kiddo to the bunch!!! I feel like I'm on a high when I leave my family functions because of all the laughter we share, usually it can be attributed to my father. I can see even though my dad and his sisters are grown he still drives them nuts, I'm not sure if it's because he was the only boy or because he was the baby. It makes me smile and hope that one day we will have a family just the same.

Adam and I have a lot to be thankful for this year, with the economy right now we are both very blessed to have our jobs. We have great families who live close and we are able to visit with often. Our friends are very special to us and we feel blessed to have each and every one of them in our lives. Most of all we are very thankful to be having a baby and everything so far is going so smoothly. We are very fortunate!!

We wanted to say "thank you" to our friends and family and let you all know you are loved. We wish everyone a happy holiday season!

Love,
Adam and Sara

An Obama baby!!

I don't know why but for some reason numerous times in my adult life I have had people say "your a Reagan baby" after asking when I was born. I have always thought this was odd but I always respond with a "yes, that's right".

After staying up way too late last night to watch the election results it occured to me that Adam and I would have an Obama baby. No matter who you voted for in this election the results are in and Barack Obama will be our President for the next 4 years. As Adam and I were talking about it last night I mentioned that we will have a 3 year old by the time we have another presidential election... kind of crazy to think about. Adam's response was "we'll probably have another one on the way by that time". Even crazier to think about!!!

Today I printed Barack Obama's speech and will put it in the baby book so our little one will have this piece of history to reflect back on when someone says "your an Obama baby".

3rd OB Appointment

Adam and I had our 3rd doctor appointment on Friday. Everything went well, we were able to hear the heartbeat again. Dr. Mernitz assured me that it sounded healthy!!

While listening to the heartbeat you could hear the baby moving around. I told Dr. Mernitz that I thought I had felt it move a few times but everything I have been reading said it was to early? He said "I believe you, I am pretty sure I felt it move while we were listening to the heartbeat." I felt confirmed in my suspicions! I guess I had my first experience with mother's intuition...I knew I had felt the baby move. The scary thing is, I think we may have a rambunctious one on our hands.

Our next appointment is November 26th, at that appointment we will schedule our ultrasound to find out if we are going to be blessed with a boy or girl. If everything goes as planned we should know the week before Christmas!!

MOVEMENT!!!!!!!!!

So I have read that the first movement I should feel will be something like butterflies in my stomach. Well I am not 100% positive but I think I felt the butterflies yesterday!!!

I had arrived at work and was headed into my daily 9:00am meeting and I had a seat in my normal chair. I was waiting for the meeting to start and all of the sudden the strangest feeling happened...and then again just seconds later. It felt like I had just gone over that fun hill on Rhorer Road at 50mph. If your not from Bloomington you don't know what that means but I am sure you can imagine. It did feel like a little flutter of butterfly wings in my stomach, it hasn't happened since though and now all I can think about is feeling it again.

I guess our little bean was making itself comfortable! I can't wait for Adam to be able to feel it in a few more weeks!!

1st Belly Picture!! 10 1/2 Weeks

A few people have been asking for belly pics to see if I am showing. Well here you go...not my favorite picture I have ever taken. Please don't mind the P.J.'s!!!! As you can see Jada was very interested in the picture as well. Jada has already become quite protective of this baby, I am not sure how she knows but she does.

I am quite amazed how pregnant I feel and look already. I guess when you are as short as I am and have no torso like I do there is no where for it to go but out.

Enjoy!!!!!!!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I am sure most of you already know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. As most of you know this holds a special place in my heart due to my mom passing away from the disease. Now that I am going to be a mother, my own mom has been on my mind a lot more lately. There are so many questions I would love to ask her and things I would love to share. I really wish she was here to share in the joy of being a grandma, she would have been so great at it. I do feel very lucky that I had my mom as long as I did because she taught me a lot about the kind of mom I want to be. I know my mom will live on in the many memories and stories I will be able to share with my children!!!

The main point of my blog today is to remind every mom, daughter, sister, and aunt to get yearly check-ups, mammograms and do self-exams. Every minute 3 women are diagnosed with breast cancer.

Your Mother Is Always With You

Your mother is always with you...
She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street.
She's the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks.
She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well.
Your mother lives inside your laughter. She's crystallized in every tear drop...
She's the place you came from, your first home.. She's the map you follow with every step that you take.
She's your first love and your first heartbreak....and nothing on earth can separate you.
Not time, Not space...Not even death....will ever separate you from your mother....
You carry her inside of you....

I love you mom!!!

Very Exciting Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As many of you know, Adam and I had our first ultrasound yesterday. It was by far the best thing I have ever seen and heard!!! The little flicker of the heartbeat was amazing and the sound was so strong and loud. Adam and I looked at each other in amazement. We were able to see many diffrent views of the baby and even got to see he/she move their head around. The heartbeat was 175 beats per minute which is normal.

According to the ultrasound they moved my due date up by 2 days, it is now May 8, 2009. We should be able to find out the sex around week 20 which should be right before Christmas. We can't wait to find out if we will be welcoming a little boy or a little gir!!

Our First Parental Test

Adam and I thought it would be fun to go look at baby furniture and other necessities this weekend, so we ventured out Friday night and after just two stops we were a bit overwhelmed. Who knew there were so many choices and how do you decide on the "right one"?

I definitely had my first "I have no idea what I am doing" moment. I am sure the first of many thousands to come! How do you know that crib is sturdier then the others? How do you know the paint won't chip off? Do you really need a changing table or will a dresser with a changing pad work just fine? Then you have to pick out a mattress...you can't lay down on them and try them out like you would if picking out your own.

Then there is the issue of car seats, strollers, and travel systems. In my personal opinion the manufactures don't do a very good job of making them unisex. I am sorry but orange and lime green don't scream girl to me, nor do purple and pink scream boy. The selection of neutral colors are very slim. We do plan on finding out what we are having but I would like to be able to use some of this stuff for a possible second baby and who knows what we will have.

I honestly feel like stopping every mom or dad I see and asking them "are you happy with your choice in stroller'? How about your car seat, is it light, easy to install?

Oh and don't get me started on child care???????????????????????????

I know it's only the beginning!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You!!!

I wanted to extend a special thank you to a few of my girlfriends!!! Kristen and Sacha!! I am so thankful that the two of you have recently had babies and are able to answer all of my crazy questions. Don't worry I am sure there will be many more to come.

The past few weeks have been really hard not having my mom to ask all of the "is this normal" questions and you both have been great. I am truly blessed to have such great friends and I can't wait to introduce you to our little one!! He or she will be blessed to have you in their lives as well.
I love you!!!

1st OB Appointment!

Adam and I had our first appointment today with the baby doctor. It was mainly informational but still very exciting. I enjoyed seeing all the pregnant ladies and their bellies. I think we both felt reassured about our office choice and hospital. I of course had lots of questions and realized that Adam may know more then I do about what I should and shouldn't be doing. I guess the book I bought him is working!!! I still think daddy bootcamp may be in his future!

Our next appointment is October 2nd and we will have our first ultrasound then!!!!

Happy Birthday Dad!!!!!!

I wanted to wish my dad a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I love you tons and hope you have a great day! You always keep us so entertained!

Ugh...morning sickness

Well everyone keeps asking "How are you feeling?". Up until yesterday I was feeling great, just a little tired. As of today the thought of food or the smell of food makes me want to sprint to the bathroom. Grocery shopping tonight should be an adventure!!!!!

Here goes nothin!!!

As Adam and I embark on this new adventure in our lives we thought a blog would be a great way to share this experience with our family and friends. We have friends and family scattered in many cities and states and phone calls are sometimes few and far between so we figure what better way to stay updated then a blog!

Some of you may have heard from us or through the grape vine that Adam and I are expecting our first baby in May 2009. We are very excited, anxious, scared and a whole host of other emotions about this experience but we are welcoming it with open arms.

We look forward to sharing this experience with you all!

Love,

Adam and Sara
