Summer Sandal Tradition Begins!

Before Madelyn was born my sister came to me and said she wanted there to be something special she and Maddy would do together every year. I of course agreed and told her to think about it and let me know what she came up with. Well, if you know Allie at all you would know that it would have to involve shopping, now I consider myself a fan of shopping but I don't know anyone that loves it more then my sister. She came up with the idea of taking Maddy to buy a new pair of sandals at the start of every summer. I thought it was a great idea and this past weekend the tradition began, Maddy now has her first pair of sandals from Aunt Allie!!

I look forward to many years of seeing what Madelyn comes home with after their shopping trips and I know it won't take long before Maddy is loving this tradition. I also look forward to the look on my sister's face when Maddy turns 16 and decides she wants a $200.00 pair of sandals!! Heehee...sorry Allie but you started it!!

Lions, Tigers and Bears...OH MY!

Maddy and I were invited to the zoo yesterday with my aunt Laurie and my little cousin Clark, we knew it would be a hot day but we decided to brave it. It was hot but not as bad as I anticipated, we were smart and got there early and saved all the indoor exhibits for the afternoon when it got steamy.

Clark was a lot of fun to watch and listen to as he saw the animals for the first time, he is two and was so animated. He particularly liked the Dolphin show, penguins and giraffes. Maddy of course had no clue she was at the zoo but she did take interest in the Ocean (aquarium) exhibit. The bright colors and the fish moving around captured her attention for a few minutes.

Adam and I look forward to taking her back next summer when she will be able to enjoy it a little more...and hopefully when it's not 90 degrees outside!!

One lucky girl!!

We celebrated Adam's first Father's Day yesterday! Sunday morning I made breakfast for Adam and his dad and they both opened their gifts. We then went over to Margaux and Dirk's house for a cook-out to celebrate "the dad's" a little more. Adam got to do a little fishing and of course watched the U.S. Open, it was a nice relaxing day!!

Maddy is one very lucky girl to have Adam as her dad, he is very attentive to her. I wish everyone could here the conversations he has with her and the way her eyes find him when he starts talking. You can tell she really loves her daddy!!

We hope all the dad's had a great day yesterday and I look forward to celebrating with mine this coming weekend!!

Jada and Maddy

A very common question we get these days is "how is Jada adjusting to Maddy?".

Well for the most part we haven't noticed much of a change in Jada, some days she doesn't seem to notice that Maddy exists and then the next day she follows us around the house. I have noticed a few times where Maddy will be crying and Jada will get up and go sit by the back door, as if to say "get me out of here". It's pretty funny!! We have also noticed when she is outside she will sit at the back door and bark to be let back in, this never happened before Maddy arrived. I think Jada feels the need to check in on her once in a while.

We have been putting Maddy on the floor in the evenings for a little "tummy time" and this is when Jada is most interested in her. She will circle around Maddy a few times, give her a few sniffs and kisses, then lay down on the floor next to her. It's very sweet, I can see a little motherly instinct in Jada.

We look forward to Maddy growing up with Jada and developing the same love we have for her!!

Maddy's First Concert

Every Tuesday night during the summer months the Town of Fishers hosts a concert at the town hall. Adam and I attended a few last year and quickly realized that most people had kids, as this year came around I was excited to go and we fit in a little better with Maddy. It makes for a fun evening, we pack a picnic, hear good music and enjoy the weather.

This past Tuesday we were entertained by a Beatles cover band, they dressed like the Beatles and even spoke with British accents. It was funny and entertaining at the same time. Next Tuesday Dave and Rae will be performing, they are one of my favorite cover bands! If you would like to join us we welcome the company!!

Enjoy the pics of Maddy at her first concert!

Busy, fun weekend!

We had a crazy, busy weekend but it was a ton of fun!! For me it felt like the official start of summer, my best friend Kara and her husband Scott came to Indianapolis for her baby shower and stayed with us Friday night. Kara and I have done a lot together and have known each other along time but on Friday night as we found ourselves on a Walmart run with our husbands, a newborn and Kara pregnant we had to laugh. Never in a million years did we picture us doing that together. On Saturday many of Kara's family and friends gathered at our house to celebrate with Kara, it was a great time and Kara received many great things for the new baby! Congratulations to Kara and Scott and we can't wait to meet Baby Wagner!!

Later on Saturday Adam and I attended the Rascal Flatts concert with Justin, Kristen, Dallas and Jamie. We had a great time, the weather was perfect and of course great company. I think all of us felt that Rascal Flatts put on a better show last year but it was still a good time, I enjoyed Darius Rucker aka Hootie. We look forward to many more fun concert nights this summer.

I also wanted to give a big "Thank You" to my sister who came up on Saturday and stayed with Madelyn while Adam and I had our first night out without her. I have to say it was definitely needed but I was sad to leave her. According to Allie, Maddy did great and we probably missed her more then she missed us.

Maddy One Month!!

Well I can't believe Maddy is already a month old, it really is true when people tell you that time goes so fast and they change so much. We had a few challenges in the first month but now that the acid reflux is under control things are much easier and Madelyn is much happier.

Maddy is much more alert and aware of her surroundings, she actually likes to lay on her play mat and play, likes to sit in her swing and look around at everything, and the newest discovery is smiling. I am working to get some smiles on camera but it's hard when you are holding her and she starts smiling to put her down and run to get the camera. She was full of smiles last night and this morning we had a few as well, it's so exciting as a first time mom to enjoy these little milestones.

WooHoo...6 hours!!

Last night Maddy slept for 6 hours straight, then she was up for a bottle and back to sleep for another two!!! The previous two nights she slept for 5 hours but last night when I heard her waking up, I looked at the clock to see that it had been six hours since I had kissed her goodnight and I was ecstatic. Now if I can just add one more hour I will be a very happy, less sleepy mommy.

Most of you have heard the issues we have been having with Madelyn and her acid reflux, we have implemented all of the doctor's suggestions and he put her on Prevacid yesterday. Things are looking up and we have had a much happier baby the past 3 days!
